  • CommServe Server

  • Web Server

  • Workflow

  • Private Metrics Reporting Server

Support for existing deployments of Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 is now discontinued.

You should plan to upgrade the operating system soon, to maintain supportability and to take advantage of the improvements offered with newer versions of Windows and Commvault.

For new installations of Commvault version 11.24 and later versions, Microsoft Windows Server 2012 is not supported. New installations of Commvault version 11.24 and later versions use MS SQL Server 2019, which requires a minimum of MS Windows Server 2016. Commvault upgrades are still supported.

Beginning with Commvault version 11.34 (Commvault Platform Release 2024), Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 will not be supported for Commvault upgrades because Microsoft has ended mainstream support for these Windows versions.

Windows 2012 and 2012 R2 clients will continue to be supported.

  • For cloud entities such as hypervisors, virtual machines, and virtual machine groups, only cloud regions are listed.

  • For physical entities such as file servers and laptops, only physical locations are listed.

  • For logical entities such as on a company overview page, only physical locations are listed.

Commvault Platform Release 2023E

Server plans

Starting in Commvault Platform Release 2023E, subclient policies are not created when you define backup content for a server plan. This is because the backup content is now stored as a plan property and not as a subclient policy.

Note

This does not affect the existing server plan behavior.

When you upgrade to Commvault Platform Release 2023E, subclient policies that were created because of server plans before the upgrade and which do not have any backup set associations, are deleted. However, subclient policies that were manually mapped to a backup set in the CommCell Console, are not deleted and are retained.

During Server plan creation or modification, the Database and Transaction log backup frequency options are available within the RPO settings.

Cloud Storage

Storage Accelerator feature is enabled by default for all customers (for both upgrade and fresh installation).

Commvault Platform Release 2023E

Cloud Storage

You can setup Storage Accelerator on a soruce MediaAgent to directly send the backup data to an auxiliary copy (cloud copy).

Without the Storage Accelerator, source MediaAgent send the client data to the destination MediaAgent first, and then the destination MediaAgent stores the data in the auxiliary copy.

Unlike backups where Storage Accelerator package should be installed on client, Storage Accelerator for auxiliary copy is enabled by default and does not require any special package to be installed.
